ode to the kwanzan cherry tree

 Kwanzan Cherry Tree Exercise

This could maybe be a desktop background, but I thought it might just be bordering on too much pink for any male readers (and maybe some female ones). About a week ago I stopped along West 29th street to take pictures of an absolutely gorgeous and perfect spring-time-blooming Kwanzan Cherry tree. The difference between this tree and other cherries is it’s double rose-like blossoms, and I absolutely adore it. I think I might be bordering on obsession with wanting to have one of these at full size one day in my home. I’ve actually purchased a baby one from Burgess, it died last summer, twice, and I’m nurturing it’s replacement right now. It looks like it’s got some buds so I’m hoping it’s a stronger tree, one that could either stay at our current house or be hardy enough to move with us in a year or two!

Anyway this particular tree was so spectacular and sumptuous, I couldn’t stop snapping and couldn’t choose which picture was best, hence my montage here. If people are interested in it for a desktop background, let me know and I could make it into the correct sizes.

I just love this tree.I can’t believe that God loves us enough to create such incredible beauty for us to enjoy! I just wish it was flowering all summer long - wouldn’t that be fantastic?

That is simply stunning!! I really want to make it my desktop background, but I’m just not ready to give up my wedding picture yet…. Oh, I know, I’ll save it, and when I’m finally ready for a new picture, I’ll use it then.

    Beautiful!

Gorgeous! I love how the pinks look. Getting pinks and reds to look right with Canon is really hard. Well, for me, at least.

I was about ready to give up on our Kwanzan Cherry Tree that we bought at Lowe’s four years ago. Until this year it’s growth and flowering has been less than spectacular. It was the Kwanzan Cherry equivalent of a Charlie Brown Christmas Tree.

Well, just last week we were contemplating digging it up and replanting it off in a back corner of the yard and replacing it with something more mature. When I got home from work yesterday something happened overnight because a huge number of buds popped and are in the process of opening up. The flowers are spectacular and I’m so glad we didn’t dig her up. It looks like she finally took hold and is growing with new shoots and a ton of new buds that are ready to pop.
