economic stimulus check and a VOX AC30

May 9, 2008

With the country receiving their economic stimulus, it’s interesting for me to learn what people plan to do with theirs. Are they putting it right back into the economy? Paying off federal debt (loans, bills, etc.)? Giving to charity?  Well, this is where half of mine is going. A small 6′ x 3′ shed for our tiny backyard. This is an item that I’ve needed for two years but my hubby has been resistant to spending our household money on, because the outside of the house is sort of my domain - he just doesn’t really concern himself with it. We made a decision that we could each do with our check what we wanted. Some of mine will go on my student loan, and the rest spent on this shed and potentially a small used (cheap) lawnmower.

Interesting and Flashy? Not really.

Necessary? Very.

Brian is using his plus some to add a bunch of cool pedals to his new birthday present, a VOX AC30 Amp, purchased by my family and a friend for him in a SCREAMING good deal. Don’t worry, we’d never ever be able to spend the full retail price on this. When I say screaming deal, I mean 1/4 price. This amp is a beautiful, prized thing for guitarists of his style/genre, and I am so thrilled for him to have his first amp ever! Here are some pictures from when we surprised him with it!

So, where is your economic stimulus check going?

Tune in next week, I plan on doing a color week - one new spring picture of a different color everyday.

we are hopefully using our checks for a fence along once side of our yard and the other one to have our air conditioning installed (we already have the unit). so home improvments galore….

that shed is so cute, lots of home improvement stores (lowes & home depot) are offering discounts if you use your rebate check there. you should check that out :)

    groceries
food is the last thing we buy every month with our “leftover” money so I occasionally like to stock up on pantry items, laundry det, tp… and some into savings

    The government gets our check.

It’s weird, because it’s like…the rest of the country gets this unexpected $1,200 check….and we don’t. But, since I wasn’t ever expecting it and since I didn’t plan for it, should I really be that upset?

    Probably.

Ooooh pretty amp…I’m going to have to show Mikey, He’ll be jealous…he has a pretty one too, but I don’t have a pic of it right now.

Ummm I’m not really doing anything with my check…it’s just in the bank…we’ll need it for house/wedding soon enough…so I guess for now it will just make interest, maybe in my ING account, but the interest rate has gone down sooooo much for those accounts! UGH!!!!!! it’s stupieee

Aw, I’m so happy for your hubby!!

We haven’t really decided what we’re going to do with our money. I’m hoping for a trip, but for right now it’s tucked safely away in our checking account just begging to be spent!

I haven’t really thought about it yet, but I think your idea of getting that shed is a great idea. Everyone needs a little outdoor storage, because otherwise the yard can get so cluttered with things just sitting around. I’m sure you’ll find it really useful.

seeing how the amount we are getting back is about what we had to pay this year for taxes… our money is going into the savings account. Wish i had an exciting story to tell about how we spent it.
