steve & pam wedding

A wedding I photographed at our church on Saturday, June 21. I was really happy with it - only a few hiccups. I’m starting to really enjoy the power that my HUGE flash offers, even though its a bit unwieldy. I still have so much to learn. But I have two more weddings booked for the summer!!! I never thought I’d go here, but I’m really excited about it.

ashlee & jason’s wedding

My dear friend Ashlee (now resides in Boston and I miss watching The Office with her) and her new husband Jason were married on Saturday.  She’s a graphic designer and he is a product designer who works here. So obviously, everything was perfect in its aesthetic appeal.

As usual I hung around like a pesky fly taking pictures when I could. She really loved them, saying “breathtaking…” I said it was easy because THEY were breathtaking, plus PhotoShop is really cool. AND, they haven’t seen any other pictures yet, so it’s always exciting to see your first set. I think their professional wedding photos will be amazing as they instructed their photographer to be “off beat” and “non-traditional” as possible. I could here his camera shutter going during the ceremony - he was taking multiple shots sometimes 10 clicks in 10 seconds. And the garden grounds were so awesome, I’m sure they will be amazing.

Ashlee & Jason have dated for almost 10 years before getting married, so this was well over-due. Congratulations guys!!

4 years and counting

Today is Brian and I’s four year anniversary. It sort of crept up on us . . . haven’t been able to celebrate yet although I’m not sure we’ll do much (as is typical, we rarely celebrate anything on the day of - birthdays, valentine’s day, etc. due to Brian’s mainly night and un-movable practice schedules). It’s hard to believe we’ve really been in love for so long, between 7 and 8 years) and married for four. 30% of my life has been spent with Brian in it :-) Even in the mundane mornings like today, when the cats were annoying us and Brian wouldn’t get up, I still laugh at him in sleepiness. I have never laughed as hard, had so many life experiences, highs and lows, been so real with or trusted someone as much as I do him.

I love my husband, our life, and our ministry together and I’m excited for what the next few years will bring. Happy Anniversary Brian!

edit: Also, Happy anniversary to Dan & Courtney (married on the exact same day and year as us!), Holly & Aaron, my older sister growing up, and Happy Birthday to Michelle! and my British cousin Paul!  June 12 is an important day people.

things i’ve been up to

  • setting up my first blog through wordpress through a domain name by myself. Ok Sarah helped me a bit, until I found the right instructions!
  • baking Rachael Ray cheesy corn bites for an after-wedding surprise shower in which I ingested way too may pieces of beautiful pink wedding cake.

  • playing with my kitties

  • joining snapFitness, since I’m really quite sick of the weight gain and I lost my broken elliptical a few months ago. I still love my turbo jam but my body needs more straight-up cardio and some zoning-work-out time (you know the kind where you just move but don’t think)
  • cleaning then re-cleaning and then re-cleaning my house. How can two people be SO INCREDIBLY MESSY????
house
  • talking with good friends
  • feeling like an insane person at work and at home, procrastinating yet being productive, missing people, struggling with javascripts…
  • celebrating kristin’s birthday with her at her house, and hopefully making her day a bit brighter with the surprise of *me* and springy flowers
  • watching the piles of snow melt into disgusting dirty wetness and typical-march-erie-ugliness
  • washing almost every textile in my entire house so prepare for my in-laws Easter visit (we are excited to see them!) Yes, all the below blankets were washed and Tycho has successful re-cat-allergized them.
freshly washed?
  • singing at church a lot and preparing to help for a beautiful Good Friday experience
  • watching my husband do his first baby dedication, which he did incredible at, and watching him hold beautiful Lydia basically made me want to have a baby right here, right now. (photo courtesy of the parents)

Is it really almost Easter, and seriously Wednesday already tomorrow?? I feel like my life is flashing before my eyes sometimes. I am excited for this holiday and remembering the point of everything I believe in.

Well… thanks for sticking with this.

Love,
me

    roland & leah’s wedding

I was asked to photograph a small wedding for two friends from church. It was their second marriage and very sacred and emotional for both of them. She wore a brown gown and made her own pink roses, and their children played an important role in the ceremonies. Here are some of my favorite pictures from the day.

    photo week

This weekend was very busy (as I’m sure everyone’s was). We sang in a wedding and on Sunday I got to go out on our friend’s boat. Basically the whole weekend I had my camera in hand (that thing takes so much abuse). So I think this week I’ll mainly be posting the best photos for your viewing pleasure! I hope to get them all together tonight.

    Stay tuned :-)

    um…. i want cupcakes

While watching The Biggest Loser, I stumbled across a recipe for these cupcakes on top, and proceeded to indulge myself by visiting marthastewart.com’s food section and loooking at these lucious pictures of beautiful desserts. Ironic, eh?

Molly, and other engaged 20-somethings, you should do an awesome cupcake wedding cake arrangement. :-)  I had a good friend who did it and it was beautiful. Course, so was my semi-traditional but funky yet romantic wedding cake (biased).
